To give someone a gift, your money, your time, your talent. To give back.
There are soooo many ways to give. I am hoping that I will be able to include my children in this 31 Days of Giving journey. To remind us everyday that giving is important to God.
Today I would like to introduce a cause that is very close to my heart.
Deaf Ministries International
In 2009 my husband and I were given the chance to go to Africa with Deaf Ministries. Our church is one of their big supporters financially and a group of 9 of us went to visit a couple schools. I knew the ASL alphabet and a few words and that is all. At the end of the two weeks I did not know much more but I had a feeling of truly knowing the people we got to meet. We met children who had a stronger faith then I could ever imagine. In a lot of countries the deaf are kicked to the curb, they are of no use so they are forgotten. Deaf Ministries finds these people and helps them with their confidence and let's them know that God does not kick them to the curb. God sent his Son for them specifically, that he loves them as they are and they are perfect in his eyes. Here are a few pictures of our trip.
How can you give to them? Other than pray, pray, pray. You can sponsor a child. My family was blessed to sponsor a little girl named Melvin. Never in a million years did I ever think I would get to meet a little girl I sponsor half way around the world from us. Little Melvin goes to the Emmanuel School for the Deaf in Oyugis, Kenya. She shares a little bed with an older girl, she gets 2 meals a day, she gets an education, and most importantly she gets to learn the Word of God. Go to the website, find a child to sponsor. They just need a little hope. Here is my husband and I with Melvin.
