Sunday was a fun day.....opening of our new Children's Building at the church. It was so exciting to be a part of it. I have been a part of this church since 1988 and it is so neat that my children are now a part of this church. I got to work in the Lighthouse (3, 4, 5 yr olds) and to see their eyes when they walked in was so fun. From 1950's buildings to new updated modern fun classrooms. After church we got to go to an Anaheim Arsenal basketball game...can you say tall? We got to sit close (most seats are close...lol) and wow, 7 ft tall is T A L L.
And this last picture...I walked into Ashley's room this morning...she is beginning to become a mini Sarah...so proud.

My Community Helper
These last two weeks have been Community Helper week's in Ashley's class. They have talked about a lot of CH's in our community...they have met Police Officers and Firefighters and Doctors. When they came home with the sheet that had what Community Helper they wanted to be I was a little shocked but it is "oh so Ashley"....she wants to be a Hair Dresser. She had a little paper suitcase with little paper scissors, brushes, and a water bottle. I asked her why she wanted to be this out of all the CH options and she said "I like to be creative and artistic and do people's hair." "Hair Dresser's are artists."
So here she is today dressed up as a Hair Dresser. And a reminder that last year during Ethan's CH weeks he wanted to be a chef....so I will be getting some good food and getting my hair done much more than I do now. :)

Mama Kat's Writers Workshop

Once again she has a topic or two that I can write about....so here you go.
1)DISCUSS AN INTENSE GAME OF PICTIONARY THAT YOU SPENT A DAY ARGUING ABOUT WITH THE FAMILY.
Didn't even have to think about this one...lol. Christmas of 2006. We have a party every year with our extended 'Family' which means they are not blood related but they have been a part of our lives from the beginning and they are family. We decided to play girls against guys pictionary. You get one of each sex and tell them the word and they draw and we all just scream out guesses...first sex to get the word gets a point and so on. I am pretty sure it was the 3rd person up. My Dad against Elaine. Game on...as Elaine starts to draw we start to yell and my Dad just stands there with a grin...no drawing at all. All of the sudden Ryan yells out the answer and Dad sayd "Yep..wow..good job." The fun begins...someone who I won't name names but we will call her Schlezibeth....on her feet "NOT FAIR, DOESNT COUNT, BOYS DIDNT EVEN DRAW ANYTHING." Fight begins....lol..everyone arguing and than Schlezibeth gets louder and louder and it turns from funny to end of game. Basically we found out Bob whispered the word to Ryan on his way up to the drawing board and now we never play Pictionary...in fact I am pretty sure we don't play any games anymore other than the Annual "Hide you hideous white elephant gift so you don't get stuck bringing it home."
2)TELL ABOUT A TIME YOU HURT SOMEBODY THAT STILL BOTHERS YOU TO THIS DAY.
Pretty ironic since I just posted about it a few days ago...enough said.
3)THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY...SPILL IT.
We will call him "He", so HE was the one that got away...we had a wonderful connection, intense relationship and friendship, he knew me because I could be me and he was ok with me, lots of late night talks, lots of love letters written, didn't work out on paper, bad timing, years of crying over him, still think of him as a great friend, and am I glad he got away?...YES. With my beautiful kids and amazingly manly husband I am glad things turned out the way they did.

San Francisco & Oakland

I don't want to bore you with details of how Brandon and I had no plans and did nothing I will just share some pictures of San Francisco and our 2ND Running Event (2nd of 6 already).
It was beautiful and I was sooooo unprepared. Hills..both up and down hurt my knees, my hips, my insides...and I had to walk up a lot BUT we finished it together and LOVED it.

Jim & Diana
I have been too tired to post about our mini trip to San Francisco but it was beautiful, restful, and someday I will post the funny pictures of our Trail Run.
I have been tired and than tonight I just got hit with something...I don't know where it came from exactly....I don't know if it is because it is March. In March of 2002 I met Jim & Diana for a nice lunch at Chevy's. They flew out from Virginia to meet with me. They were both cute, they had brown hair. They loved history...they studied history. They had been to all of the Civil War sites....I mean they knew a lot about history. They were very involved in their church and they had a dog. They were nice, nice people. Diana looked at me and smiled....a lot. And we laughed together and we hugged.
So all of this made it harder when I had to write to tell her that I would be keeping my baby. I didn't want to think it was anything against them...and I knew what she would say would be out of her sadness and hurting. And I still think about them and cry for them. I know they have forgiven me...in my heart I know they have a beautiful child if not two already. I don't understand why we judge and why we criticize. If we all had our stories on our backs or our t-shirts we would maybe watch what we said more. I am selfish, I retracted a promise, I gave and took away, you can question people on their decisions but know it is more than likely going to haunt them longer than you will remember to "not understand".
